Stretch it Out

Hi everyone,

I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in awhile. I guess you could say life got in the way but then again, we’re all busy and that’s really no excuse. So what’s new and excit­ing in my world? What’s dif­fer­ent since the last time you vis­ited? In short, not too much!

I’ve stepped up my run­ning and have been feel­ing really good lately. That is, until about a week ago, when my sacro-​illiac joint on my right side decided it wasn’t very happy. I woke up one morn­ing to a burn­ing sen­sa­tion deep in the joint, which is loca­tion right at the top of the glutes, on either side of the spine. I iced, stretched and rolled and although I found tem­po­rary relief, noth­ing seemed to per­ma­nently relieve the pain. That is, until I began to prac­tice yoga daily. I searched the web and thank­fuly found a few youtube videos that have really made a dif­fer­ence not only with my SI joint pain but my hips, back and ham­strings, specif­i­cally, have become notice­ably looser and more open.

If you’re not able to devote about 30 min­utes a day to stretch­ing, I rec­om­mend you choose a few poses that tar­get your prob­lem areas and com­mit to spend­ing a good 1015 min­utes on the mat.
